Okay, the time has come. I'm sharing with you the lost of businesses that I have either started or attempted to start in the past 15 years

Also, stick to the end to find out what all/most of these had in common and how I actually made the last ones work.

It started when I was a teenager. My uncle has always lived in Spain so I spent my life being backwards and forwards between there and the UK. But once I hit 17 I started to travel there alone. Once I had a taste of that, I knew straight away that I wanted to live a life of freedom and I wanted to work for myself, preferable remotely.

There was nowhere near as many opportunities to work online as there is now. Instagram had pretty much just become a thing and people were beginning to be influencers. I had no idea if or how they were getting paid but I wanted to do it too. I started editing my photos with those OTT filters and presets and trying my hardest to become an influencer. Safe to say no one cared about my posts. But i think i started around 3 instagram pages at an attempt to be a successful influencer. And this is where the list began..

I'm not going to bore you with details of each business I have tried.. after all, we are here to have a good laugh at me right? So, I'll keep it pretty brief. My keyboard has also broke to bare with me and the typos.

Businesses I have tried and failed over the years. In no particular order.

  1. Influencer - we've been over this.. This has been a reoccurring one over the years.

  2. I tried to recycle old clothing by cutting them up, sewing them differently and reselling them

  3. Social media manager - I didn't even know how to run social media properly then so i've no idea what i was thinking

  4. Candles - I spent HUNDREDS on candle making equipment thinking I was going to be one of these viral people on TikTok that made their fortunes with a candle business. I made about 2 candles and sold my equipment when I realised how hard it was and how long it takes.

  5. Trinkets- I started decorating jars and glass bottles for people to use on their aphrodite alters. I don't think I ever even finished one product

  6. Jasmonite - I got really obsesssed with making jasmonite pieces, i spent a fortune on jasmonite and moulds and never sold one piece they are still in my house. That got boring

  7. Selling my feet online - Me and my friend thought it would be a funny idea to sell pictures of our feet online as we had seen a load of girls making loads from doing it on twitter. Another Massive FAIL. But atleast we had fun with that one.

  8. Graphic designer - I've always been a canva girl so i wanted to make things for peoples businesses (pricelists etc) I tried cold messaging people on instagram. I made a total of one sales. And the rest i made were for friends and family.

  9. Youtuber - I bought a camper van that I wanted to live in with my dog. I got my dog and she turned out that reactive that I want even able to camp in my van let alone live in it. I created a youtube channel to relate to other people in the same boat. People did like it tbf but being in the van was to hard with my dog so i got rid of the van and gave up.

  10. Streamer - I started using BIGO at an attempt to make money streaming. I did make a couple of hundred but talking to idiots online al day wasn't really ding it for me.

  11. Travel agent - I joined one of those MLM systems where you learn to book peoples holidays for them. But I was so unorganised that it was total overwhelm. Plus they wanted me to cold message people to join. You know those really cringe messages that you have to send to people. That part wasn't for me.

  12. UGC creator - I started creating videos of me unboxing things and trying to work with brands. Another thing I gave up on.

  13. Amazon - I dont even know what this is but i did the thing where you create websites and social media pages and try to sell random stuff from amazon with some sort of affiliate link

  14. A STRIP CLUB - don't even ask about this one but i just had this massive urge to own a strip club. I thought I was gonna be so rich. Obviously thisone never happened although the amount of weeks i spent actually planning it is impressive.

  15. Crystal shop. - I spent so much money buying crystals. I sold them from home and did a couple of stalls. This one i actually loved. But again, very unorganised and once again, it fell through.

  16. Blogger - Weird considering i'm writing one now. But yes, years ago i attempted to be a blogger. The idea was to add affiliate links. I put so much time and effort into creating everything but I didn't actually have anything to blog about or even really know how it worked. FAIL

I swear there are even more things that I have done. I'll have to update this when I remember them.

These last two are the exception to my list of fails. And there is a reason as to why. which i'l also share.

Pet photography.

This I can proudly say I still do. It is my little baby. The business was inspired by my dog, Rain. A year and a half later and I am still photographing pets. Mainly dogs. I only do this casually i don't put much effort into selling myself etc its just something i really enjoy. And tbh, all the failures in the past had taught me a lesson. I stayed consistent with this one. And even tho I only do it casually.. I know I would have given up if i had not got the experience and learned the lessons from the past attempts at business.

which leads to..

Tarot reader

This is the one that was actually successful for me and here's why.

Believe it or not.. ALLL the businesses I had tried in the past.. I had either created a website or social media, booking system, i had apps and subscriptions coming out of my eyeballs, endless branding and logos and graphics etc. When i start a business I go ALL IN. for a few weeks.. Then i get overstim and i give up. I cant cope with not remembering usernames and passwords and website links and all the rest. So id download apps that would help me stay organised.. every pp i downloaded would have something missing so id download another then I was overwhelmed with the amount of apps i had and would forget which ones id used for what.

That's when id end up giving up. But when I started the tarot business.. I made sure that if i was going to fixate hard on my business.. building a site.. creating a booking system and an emailing system etc (all my readings were done through email) Then i wanted to also fixate on creating a way that I could keep motivated and organised and consistent. So i made myself a spreadsheet. It was very hard to say the least.. It took me weeks if not months to perfect it. adding things and changing things. But once i had it. Wow, life was so much easier.

I stopped being so overstimulated. I started being more consistent. Because I wasn't getting frustrated everything I needed to find a link or remember a log in. My notes on my phone were no longer hiding a million unorganised ideas that id had and jotted down then lost. I wasn't scrambling through old diaries trying to find log in details or other ideas i had jotted down. Everything was in one place. On a spreadsheet that i had worked so hard on. I even tracked my goals and my sales on there.

This was the only business that I managed to stay organised enough to the point where it worked. It took a bit to build. But i locked in, i was determined and so i was successful. I managed to leave my job. I started making 1-3k per month just from reading tarot. I couldn't believe it. I was genuinely proud of myself. I did eventually move onto new things as i didn't want to do tarot forever so I no longer run that business but recently I sat down and had a good think about what made that business so different for me. It was the organisation which lead to the consistency for me. I had such a good system.

So I made the choice to sell on my spreadsheet, my baby. my pot of gold and I made a few tweaks.

There was however, something that used to bother me.. and that was that I had to go onto my laptop everyday to log my sales and work out my goals etc. So i also decided to create tools that help you do that on the go! So i created an app that allows you to log your sales everyday for a month.. that way you only need to log your sales once per month on the spreadsheet instead of everyday. You can use the spreadsheet on your phone but its easier on the laptop and an app is way more fun. I also added a section to the app for you to log your quick links to your websites etc so they are at your fingertips whenever you need them.

I also created a goals calculator to help you work out how many sales you need to make to hit your target and i'm going to let you try that for free by clicking the link below!

Make sure you add it to your home screen so that you can use it whenever you like!

well.. that's my embarrassing list of businesses that I have tried over the years. I am SURE there are many of you out there just like me.

remember.. it's not your business that sucks.. it's your consistency. lock in, get organised and show up until it works. because it will!

Or try the full toolkit!
